Why use Wood pellets as a fuel?

Wood pellets are small compressed cylinders of natural dry wood shavings and sawdust, formed from what was previously waste. Wood pellets are CO" neutral helping to counter global warming.

Benefits of using Brites!

brites are a locally available fuel that will reduce carbon emissions to the atmosphere and help combat climate change. They can be used in commercial applications as well as in the home. brites are locally produced and are as efficient and convenient as conventional fossil fuels. brites can be used in small amounts in the domestic right up to co-firing of generating plants that can benefit from their zero carbon rating.

brites are very clean and can be handled easily without any mess. brites burn evenly and efficiently giving a constant heat. The only material in the pellets is natural wood - there are no additives or artificial binding agents. During the pellet making process the natural resin or lignin present in the wood naturally moves to the surface of the pellet creating a protective coating which helps the pellet keep its structure. This provides peace of mind for you, your family and your environment.

The days of rolled up newspapers and rolled up sleeves are past. Modern pellet stoves can be ignited automatically using a device like a TV controller - just point and click.
Modern pellet stoves and boilers are fed automatically and the heat output is regulated just like any central heating system. brites can be delivered in bulk in quantities of 3 tonnes or more. Ash levels are extremely low and some boiler units remove the ash automatically. The small amount of ash that is removed is very high in nutrients and can be used as a high grade fertiliser in the garden. The heat output from the pellet units can be controlled and programmed to meet the specific needs of the user.

Wood pellets have great potential to reduce the carbon emissions produced by industry. They can be used to provide heat for space and water heating or for industrial processes. They can also be used with other fuels to co-fire existing heating or electrical generating plants. The result is a significantly lower carbon footprint, CCL exemption and tradable carbon credits.

What do I need to do to convert my oil boiler to a wood pellet boiler?
You will need to get an accredited installer to check that your wet central heating system is suitable for the conversion. Check the grant providers website to pick a boiler and to check if any funding is available. The main issue is space for storage; you can convert your garage or buy a storage unit – see grants and storage solutions section on website for more information

What standard are brites made to?
brites are made to European standard CEN/TS 14961
